The JMT Herb Company are purveyors of fine herbs. We have made this our motto since our incipience. Michael Fratis and Tom Coca began this company by searching for top quality ginseng, the kind we used to get in the Sixties. The only good roots were outlandishly priced. We finally found a source in China through a business friend. We hadn't seen ginseng of this high quality available in the United States, so we decided to import it ourselves. Thus was born the JMT Herb Company. JMT Herb Company is the premier source of Panax ginseng (Chinese ginseng) as well as cultivated Panax Quinquefolius (American ginseng), grown in the Catskill mountains. We provide whole roots and jars of encapsulated pure ginseng powder.

-A taste of the Santa Cruz mountains

Established in 1941 with the intent to prove that the Santa Cruz Mountains were the ideal soils and climate for producing premium California varietal wines, Hallcrest Vineyards has a long running history of producing fine wine from the Santa Cruz Mountains. The Santa Cruz Mountain Appellation is one of California’s largest “Approved American Viticultural Areas.” Roughly speaking, it begins at Half Moon Bay and stretches south along the coast towards Aptos and then works its way East away from the sea over Mt. Madonna then back North along Highway 85 and 280. What defines the appellation is cool variable weather, an extremely long growing season, and starved soils. High elevations, Pacific breezes, and lingering fog along with the San Francisco Bay buffer keep things cool year round. Cool air comes down the mountains and forces warm air up which slows down growth and ripening and makes for a very long season not to mention a lot of anxiety. The mountain soils are weathered and eroded, thin and stony. Vines are malnourished and struggling to survive in harsh weather conditions, but the resulting fruit is unmatched in depth and concentration.

Upstarts Organic Seedlings produces and distributes high Quality Vegetable and Herb seedlings. Our varieties are either heirloom or hybrid varieties selected for flavor and quality. Vigor and disease resistance, as well as regional growing conditions also play a part in our seed selection. Using untreated seed and our custom soil blend, our seedlings are organically grown without the use of chemical fertilizers or pesticides. We have been CERTIFIED ORGANIC with California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF) since 1990. Upstarts has been involved primarily in growing bedding stock for the retail nursery trade in the San Francisco, Napa, and Monterey Bay Areas. We also do some contract growing for certified organic farmers who are required to have certified transplants. We are a hands on business, daily meeting the challenges of growing greenhouse material organically, as well as promoting, selling, and distributing our product. We are always looking for new varieties to grow, watching for trends in the culinary and nursery industries. Our commitment to organic growing practices extends past the sale of our product. We meet with customers, answering questions about organic solutions to home gardening questions and promoting organic growing practices.

New Natives farm is nestled in a valley on the central coast of California. Over the last 20 years we have grown thousands of pounds of sprouts, using good organic seed, natural sunlight, clean water, and nothing more. Growing sprouts of high quality, using the natural elements is very important to us. We sell locally at farmers markets and natural food stores. New Natives sprouts are known for flavor, quality, and integrity. Organic seeds work in sync with the laws of nature. Our goal at New Natives has always been to ensure that chemical-free foods remain a part of our diets. By providing certified organic seed for home sprouting, we are going one step further in providing greater access to clean, healthy, quality food.
